Dog-friendly camping holidays

Out in the Open offers a great environment for your dogs to have as happy a holiday as you do!

On the campsite

There is a large field on site, where your dog can run freely, off the lead, socialise & make new friends! This is beautifully mowed & quite safe; being a long distance from any roads.

Within the dog exercise field, is a full set of competition standard dog agility equipment. This can be hired by the hour for experienced handlers. For those who haven't tried it before, introductory sessions can be arranged, where you & your dog are introduced to all the equipment. If you are staying for a couple of weeks, it is possible to book a series of sessions, which would offer a great starting point to beginning training at a club.

Nearby

Various footpaths & bridleways are accessible from the campsite, so that you can walk your dog without having to take the car out. At Stithians, (3 miles away), there is a circular walk around the lake. In Helston, the Penrose Estate offers a circular off-road, scenic walk past Loe Pool & onto the beach at Loe Bar, with a possible detour to Porthleven for a cream tea!

Eating out

The three nearest pubs both offer good food, fine ales & allow dogs inside. There is a great harbourside restaurant in Porthleven, which is genuinely dog-friendly. (http://www.ameliesporthleven.co.uk/)

Playing

There are a range of beaches that allow dogs in the summer. Our favourite is Gwithian - miles of white sandy beach on the north coast. (Beach guides for dog-owners are available on site & http://www.cornwall-beaches.co.uk/dog.php is a useful website).

Cornwall also has some great off-road cycle paths & some of the bike hire companies also offer dog trailers.

Doggie Day Care

Dogs are not allowed in some of the very popular tourist attractions, such as Eden Project & the Lost Gardens of Heligan in summer. Sometimes, you might just want a day of retail therapy without having to manage your dogs around town. We have links with local people who offer day-care & walking service for dogs. They will look after your dog whilst you are out & return them happy, exercised & tired!
