This might read like a pile of unnecessary rules. We are strict, but after all, this is our home & after ten years, we have learned that without boundaries, campers can be unclear as to what is expected of them. These policies have all evolved from past experiences, are based on respect - for us, our home, other people & the environment - & are designed to ensure that all our visitors can have a safe & enjoyable holiday. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t come & then complain later. This only leads to an uncomfortable atmosphere & unnecessary conflict..
Arrivals & departures
Please arrive after 12 midday & before 8pm. If you are delayed, please contact us, but arrivals later than 8pm may be refused, or a surcharge applied. All tents must be erected & equipped by 10pm. Please do not pitch your tent until you have registered. Pitches must be vacated by 11am on day of departure, (or you can pay a half-day rate & stay until 8pm).
Visitors
Sorry, but we do not allow visitors on site.
Fire safety policy
No camp fires, (except those organized & supervised by us), are allowed, due to health, safety & fire risks. No disposable BBQs are allowed. Re-useable BBQs, (which are raised at least 20cm off the ground), are fine, but should be extinguished by 11pm. The only fuel permitted in these is charcoal. No fires, cookers, or BBQs are allowed in, or close to, the barn or marquees. Please also read, & adhere to, the fire safety guidelines listed at the campsite.
Noise policy
Most campsites do not offer a free, warm & dry area to eat, chill out & socialise, like the barn. However, the more people in there & the more alcohol that is consumed, the louder the noise level! We therefore ask that you please vacate the barn by 11pm & keep noise to an absolute minimum after this time. After 11 pm, we ask that there are no group gatherings; either in the field, or in tents. Any individual, group, or part of group requested, (either by us, or another camper), to ‘keep the noise down’ after this time, will be asked to leave the following morning without refund. Also, if your neighbour can hear your radio, TV, or iPod, then it’s too loud!
Dog policy
Please keep dogs on short leads, at all times, in the public & camping areas. There is a designated field for exercising dogs off leads, or there are footpaths adjoining the site. We welcome dogs, but some visitors are frightened by, or allergic to dogs & some just don’t like them! So, no dogs are allowed in the areas where people may gather; ie; in or around the toilet/shower block, shed, barn, or marquees. Please clean up after your dogs & dispose of dog waste appropriately. No dogs to be left unattended on the site. We have a new puppy, who can manage the cutest RSPCA look, but please resist any urge to feed her!
Environmentally-friendly policy
Please refer to our ‘Green Camping’ page for other suggestions, but we do insist on the following:
The economical use of water & electricity
Recycling & composting
Safe & responsible disposal of all waste
Use of fat traps for cooking fat or oil
No portable chemical toilets are permitted
Generators are not allowed on site
Restriction of access to conservation area to daylight hours only
Children
Children should be supervised at all times, including in the toilet block. Please be aware that we are a working farm & that there are a number of potential risks to children. We do not accept unaccompanied persons under the age of 18.
Liability
We cannot accept any liability for any personal injury, death, loss, or damage which may be sustained whilst at the site, however caused, & suggest that you take out holiday insurance to cover such eventualities. Refunds are not made, except in exceptional circumstances & at our discretion. This does not include cancellations or early departures, due to weather conditions. We reserve the right to ask any person to leave, (without refund), &/or refuse future bookings, should they be behaving in, what we consider, an unreasonable manner, or causing nuisance to others.
We ask that you don’t put us in an uncomfortable position by asking to stretch, or ‘bend’ these rules, which have all been carefully considered & are based on previous experiences. Failure to respect any of them may lead to you being asked to leave the site. Having been informed of these conditions, it is assumed that you, (& all members of your party), accept them if you make a booking.
